Civic volunteer and village police arrested for extorting and molesting a woman

In a shocking incident in South 24 Parganas, a civic volunteer, and a village police officer have been arrested for allegedly extorting and molesting a young woman from the Bithari area of Swarup Nagar.
The incident occurred when the woman, along with her father, was attempting to cross into Bangladesh illegally from the Swarup Dah border. According to reports, the duo demanded a significant sum of money from the young woman and her father as they attempted the illegal border crossing.
When the woman refused to comply with the demand for money, the civic volunteer and the village police allegedly robbed her of Rs 10,000 in cash, along with her gold jewelry. Additionally, the woman accused the men of molesting her during the encounter.
Upon receiving a complaint from the young woman and her father, the Swarupnagar police acted swiftly, arresting the civic volunteer and the village police officer involved in the crime. Both suspects are expected to be produced in the Basirhat court today, where they will face charges of extortion, robbery, and molestation.
